The Three Seas Initiative (3SI) Business Summit was yet another way to bring new opportunities for Slovakia's digital transition and put the spotlight on the Slovak Digital Coalition, showcasing their efforts and work in up- and re-skilling citizens and workers, and highlighting their focus on driving forward the digital transformation of the economy and society in Slovakia.

Of course, representatives of the Slovak Digital Coalition, together with other key government members, travelled to the 8th edition of the event in Bucharest, which took place on 6 and 7 September 2023 - and made the most out of the chance to present the excellent work of the Slovak Coalition to the rest of the Baltic partner countries and sponsors of the event.

The Slovak Digital Coalition @ the 3SI Summit: highlights

The 3SI Business Summit is an annual event that aims to strengthen collaboration between countries, participating in the Three Seas Initiative. Mário Lelovský, President of the Slovak Digital Coalition, took part in the Summit, and presented the main projects running under the umbrella of the current Digital Coalition.

He highlighted a range of good practices not only limited to Slovakia, but also reaching other European partner and cooperating countries (i.e. successful approaches that have been replicated or amended to fit different regions, contexts, or target audiences).  Mr Lelovský spoke as part of a roundtable focused on the 3SI countries' involvement in the digital transformation of businesses, products and services on the topic of "developing human resources and enhancing digital skills for all population groups is a prerequisite for a successful digital transformation”.

The Three Seas Initiative (3SI): a closer look

The 3SI initiative (Baltic, Black Sea and Adriatic Seas) is an informal political platform bringing together 12 Member States of the European Union between the three seas – Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Strategic partners supporting the three seas initiative were also present at the Bucharest meeting: European Commission, Germany and the USA.

The 3SI initiative was primarily born out of a shared goal to progress on key transport, energy and digital infrastructure challenges - and today represents the cooperation between 12 EU Member States spread across the Baltic, Adriatic and Black seas. 3SI aims to scale up region’s excellence EU-wide and globally.

To improve regions connectivity and accelerate investments in infrastructure projects of the regions 3SI Investment Fund was set up in 2019.
