Big data analytics, data protection, and ethics with Dublin City University (DCU) - DigiAdvance

‘Big data analytics, data protection, and ethics’ is a DigiAdvance course developed by Dublin City University. DigiAdvance aims to address digital skills gaps in the SME sector through the provision of low-cost, demand-driven, tailored training in key digital technologies for SME owners, managers and employees. This course is one of a number of flexible short-form courses offered by this project, which is co-funded by the EU.
This course explores key concepts in Big Data Analytics while focusing on the ethical and legal aspects of working with data. It examines the fundamentals of Big Data, including key concepts, application areas, and emerging trends. Additionally, the course explores the tools and technologies used in Big Data and the development of critical analysis skills for practical application. The course will also introduce principles of data protection, the GDPR, and other essential regulations, with a focus on ethical considerations, compliance, and best practices in data analytics.

DigiAdvance courses aim to advance the knowledge and skills of SME leaders, managers, employees and job seekers in key digital technologies. This short course is fully online and asynchronous. Participants receive a certificate of achievement at the end of the course. Students may register for the course any time from March 3rd to July 1st 2025.
