Building AI

Building AI is a online course, developed by the University of Helsinki and Finnish innovation and education company Reaktor. 

The course builds on the achievements of its predecessor, Elements of AI (an introductory course for people with no technological background), which was launched within the framework of the Finnish Presidency of the European Council in 2019. Targeting learners who already possess some knowledge about Artificial Intelligence (AI), the course offers an opportunity to discover AI methods and the solutions made possible by the technology. The course aims to provide users with an understanding of AI and inspire them to build their ideas and skills further.  

The online course also aims to improve AI-related vocabulary and skills. The course is broken down into small, bite-sized chunks of information - in the form of chapters and sections. The course is self-paced and takes around 50 hours of total study time to complete. There are three difficulty levels, which participants can switch through. Assessment is conducted in the form of multiple choice exercises to programming tasks, involving Python. An introductory knowledge of programming is beneficial, but not required. 

The course is free of charge and learners also have the option to purchase a certificate upon successful completion.
