Civil Engineer Program in Trusted Systems

For those who want to work on trustworthy systems such as autonomous vehicles, medical devices and future aircraft or drones systems. After graduating, you can, for example, work as a system developer of trustworthy systems, validation and verification engineers or electronic developers of fault-tolerant systems. Teaching takes place in Swedish and at campus Västerås.
About the program
This specialized training course in reliable systems, unique in Sweden, was developed in collaboration with major industrial companies like Saab, Alstom BT, and Volvo Construction Equipment. Grounded in leading research from MDU, the programme focuses on designing systems that function reliably under all conditions, minimizing risks to people, the environment, and costly interruptions.
Students engage in courses covering systems engineering, electronics, and computer science, gaining skills to create complex, error-free electronic and computer systems used in fields like aerospace, automotive, and medical devices. Project-based learning includes industry-led assignments, providing practical experience.
In the final phase, students complete a degree project in a chosen area, such as autonomous vehicles, health monitoring, or fault-tolerant systems.
Career Prospects
Graduates with a Master of Science in Reliable Systems Engineering are in demand globally. Alumni work as systems developers, engineers, and software specialists in industries where reliability is critical, including medical technology.
