Are you interested in learning about the fundamentals of user experience (UX)? The online course ‘Digital Skills: User Experience’ developed by Accenture will teach you all about UX and why it’s important. Participants will learn the of visual and UX design, and the tools needed to become a good UX designer.

About the course

The three-week course will use videos, quizzes, and interactive discussions to teach participants the value of user research in the design phase and explore techniques for gathering important data about focus groups and stakeholders. Participants will be able to explore the day-to-day tasks of a junior UX designer, and gain insight into the suitability of this career for them, as well as identify knowledge and skill gaps to develop. By the end of this course, participants will be able to identify a UX designer’s main tasks and explain the value of high-quality UX design and its impact on product delivery. The course is geared towards providing insight for kickstarting their own career in UX.

The course is structured as follows:

  • Week 1: Why is user experience important?
  • Week 2: User experience basics
  • Week 3: Tools and testing

Outcomes

After completing this course, participants will: 

  • Learn what user experience (UX) is and why it is important
  • Understand the foundations of UX design and its impact on businesses 
  • Be able to identify key approaches, attitudes and process elements necessary for UX design
  • Understand the various stages of UX processes (design, develop, release) and ‘user journeys’ 
  • Identify concepts of information architecture and the importance of good structure for usability
  • Identify concepts and reasons for prototype creation
  • Explain the basics of drawing wireframes, the importance of low-to-high detail and the benefits of interactive prototypes
