FactCZech or How to use Canva to create hoaxes
Sign up for the course and find out how to deal with disinformation! The event will take place online on 10 November 2025 from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and is open to secondary school teachers.
Course description
The course shows how easy it is to create or imitate image hoaxes that we encounter on social networks, e.g. in Canva. This is based on the principles of inoculation theory: Experiencing the imitation of disinformation and refuting it increases our resilience, much like a vaccine. Participants will use Magic Studio’s ‘smart’ tools to create collages and try out working generative AI FURTHER and Magic Media.
The course follows the lesson FactCZech or How to work with image and text hoaxes. From the start of the course, learners are introduced to tips on how to identify image hoaxes with the help of reverse search tools and how to verify them with a tool from Google: Fact Check Tools.
Course prerequisites
To work with the Canva graphic editor, it is advisable to download the basic version for free, or an extended version of Canva for Education. It is possible to use the school account and if the school does not have a registration, it is possible to register separately as a teacher. However, Canva does not register immediately, the platform takes a while to approve the teacher registration.
The course is taught by Mgr. Martin and is free.
