Master’s degree in Data Science and Mechanical Learning of the National Technical University of Athens

TheFaculty of Electrical Engineering Engineering of Computer Engineers of the National Technical University of Athens, in cooperation with the Faculties of Applied Mathematics and Physical Sciences, Civil Engineering and Agronomic Engineering, is organising a cross-departmental programme of postgraduate studies (Machine Learning) in the scientific field "Data Science and Machine Learning". The programme aims to manage, analyse, process and extract knowledge from data, either in structured or unstructured form. Effective data analysis can offer meaningful solutions and help to make decisions at different levels.
Aim of the Master’s degree
It aims to meet the strong labour market need for trained staff in the field of Data Science and Mechanical Learning. This programme offers graduates:
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of methods and technologies for representation, storage and processing of heterogeneous types of data with modern algorithmic enabling techniques.
- Advanced knowledge of statistical skills, likelihood of mathematical concepts in general, to understand simple and advanced issues of the areas under consideration, such as knowledge of the use of appropriate tools for each situation and different datasets.
- Deepen the state-of-the-art techniques and methodologies in Data Science and Machine Learning, related to solving problems with techniques for processing and analysing large amounts of data, for prediction modeling and decision making.
- Scientifically sound summary and effective presentation of models and findings derived from data analysis by mechanical learning methods.
- Knowledge in specialised fields of application (image analysis, computer vision, geospatial coordinate processing, etc.).
The curriculum
It is full-time and includes two semesters and one semester of drafting the postgraduate Diplomatic Work. The minimum period of study is two academic semesters and the maximum duration of study is two years, including the preparation of the Diplomatic Work.
A total of 60 credits need to be successfully followed, and postgraduate Diplomatic Work, equivalent to an additional 30 points, must be successfully developed. Read more about Master's degree programme.
