Obstacles Facing Blockchain Emergence with Dublin City University (DCU) - DigiAdvance

‘Obstacles Facing Blockchain Emergence’ is a DigiAdvance course developed by Dublin City University. DigiAdvance aims to address digital skills gaps in the SME sector through the provision of low-cost, demand-driven, tailored training in key digital technologies for SME owners, managers and employees. This course is one of a number of flexible short-form courses offered by DigiAdvance, a project co-funded by the EU.
This course examines how the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) conflict with blockchain’s data immutability principle and the problems caused by the lack of central governance, particularly in the financial sector. It will discuss blockchain security issues like crypto-exchange hacks and cultural issues, including blockchain’s negative reputation due to fraud and hacking. Finally, the course will address the lack of awareness, cooperation, and understanding of blockchain technology, especially among small and medium-sized companies.

DigiAdvance courses aim to advance the knowledge and skills of SME leaders, managers, employees and job seekers in key digital technologies. This short course is fully online and asynchronous.
