Founded in 1863, Politecnico di Milano (the Polytechnic University of Milan), is the oldest university in Milan and the largest technical university in Italy. Today, it brings together more than 40,000 students, enrolled in undergraduate, graduate and higher education classes. The university is famous for its focus on engineering, architecture and design. It has 4 Schools, which are organised in 12 departments that conduct both research and education. The university also offers a wide range of massive open online courses (MOOCs), free of charge online courses, and various specialisation programmes.
