Bulgaria - Digital National Alliance
Digital National Alliance is a non-governmental organisation and is part of the initiative of the European Commission, the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition. It aims to promote and implement the objectives of the initiative in Bulgaria.
The Bulgarian Coalition was launched in June 2014 as the National Coalition for Digital Jobs in Bulgaria by Gergana Passy – Digital Champion for Bulgaria. DNA brings together public authorities, business, education, training and labour market stakeholders. It supports the activities of more than 30 members of the Alliance to respond to the shortage of information and communication technology (ICT) skills and meet the demand of ICT professionals and experts in Bulgaria.
The main goal of the coalition is to stimulate the intersectoral debate on the challenges and opportunities facing Bulgaria's digital transition, uniting the private sector, academic institutions and public administration. DNK connects government, business, education, training, and labour market stakeholders. It supports the activities of over thirty Alliance members in order to address the lack of skills in information and communication technology (ICT) and satisfy the demand for ICT professionals and specialists in Bulgaria.
National coalition details
The main goal of the coalition is to attract more people to new technologies, to achieve more efficient use of digital potential, and to support the development of the ICT sector in Bulgaria.
- Digital National Alliance develops the capacity of professions and industries connected to new technologies by providing educational and training programs that would improve the skills and competencies of children, young people and adults, required for the insertion in the current and the future labour market.
- The coalition raises public awareness on the importance and potential of digital skills and supports social inclusion through the opportunities of the new technologies.
- Digital National Alliance encourages more young people and women to use new technologies and provides information about retraining opportunities by promoting their benefits.
Coalition members are more than 30 companies and professionals with significant contribution to the development of the ICT sector in Bulgaria: leaders from the public, private and academic sectors, such as Google, New Bulgarian University, Microsoft, Mastercard, Telelink Bulgaria and many others.
