Digi Knowledge Room

The DIGI Knowledge Room is a project of the ScienceCenter Network and is the result of the ‘Knowledge Room project, which transforms empty business premises in Vienna into Pop-up Science-Center since 2013. These allow people of different ages, genders and cultural and linguistic backgrounds to have free access to science and technology in their own area.
Visitors can address technical and scientific issues in the knowledge rooms. The knowledge space is managed by a multilingual placement team. In the DIGI Knowledge Room, interested parties can acquire knowledge about digitalisation. There will be two main themes. The DIGI Worksop and the DIGI Café
DIGI Workshop
In the DIGI workshop, fun and pleasure in research, play and trial play a central role. The emphasis is on experimentation and implementation of digital ideas, as well as activities to fraught, trial and research. Together with the intermediaries, project ideas will be developed and followed up. In addition, the first small programmes can be written or the 3D printer and the embroidery machines can be tested.
The DIGI café
The DIGI is aimed at those who have had little contact with the topic of digitalisation and who need help with:
- How to deal with the Green Certificate
- Send emails
- create an email account
- Fill in forms on the Internet
- agree a doctor’s appointment online
The DIGI café helps with everyday problems. The offer can be used free of charge by any person, regardless of the level of knowledge.
In addition to the DIGI Workshop and the DIGI-Café, the DIGI Knowledge Room offers regular events and workshops covering different topics such as internet security. There is also a blog on the project’s website with contributions on topical topics in the field of digitalisation.
The DIGI Knowledge Room is a funded project of the AK Digifonds. With its digitalisation fund, Work 4.0, the Vienna WG focuses on people and how they relate to digitalisation. It will support projects that look at digitalisation from the perspective of workers and shape them in their interest.
What makes DIGI knowledge space a good practice?
This project in Vienna offers free education, research and experimentation on digitalisation to the public. It allows visitors to acquire digital skills individually and at their own pace, accompanied by a multilingual placement team. The DIGI café also provides support for everyday digital challenges, especially for those who have so far had little connection with digitalisation. The project promotes practical learning through experimentation and projects in the DIGI Workshop and provides regular events and workshops on various aspects of digitalisation.
In addition, the DIGI Knowledge Space contributes to the formation of a community of people who can be interested in and learn from each other in digitalisation. The financial support provided by the AK Digifonds ensures the sustainability of the project and ensures wide access to digitalisation for all interested parties. Overall, this project shows how digital education and support can be made inclusive, practical and demand-driven.
