Digital Arrow - Slovakia
Background and context
The project fits well within the EU’s Digital Decade targets – that 80% of EU citizens will be digitally literate and 20 million ICT professionals will be employed in Europe by 2030.
The Digital Arrow project aims to bring digital skills, as well as IT and digital careers, closer to girls. To this end, the project addresses several challenges encountered in the Slovak digital skills and jobs environment, but in particular the shortage of girls participating in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and information and communication technology (ICT) education, and subsequently in the labour market.
Why is this a good practice?
The initiative has delivered concrete results since its launch. Its focus on enabling girls to discover their potential in IT and digital careers makes it relevant, transparent, and up-to-date with the latest trends and challenges in digital skills and jobs.
Digital Arrow is also scalable: as an initiative, it is designed to remain accessible to all. It is also highly accessible due to its user-friendly design and matching with the needs of students, parents and teachers. The initiative has developed two innovative tests that also testify to its accessibility and ambition to involve parents and teachers.
Finally, it has the potential to be replicated as best practice in other contexts, regions and for other target groups, or even for Member States.
