Good Practices

Talents du numérique (Digital Talents) is a non-profit association bringing together higher education institutions and digital companies grouped within the Cigref, Cinov Digital and Syntec Digital unions/networks.

The website offers a map (database) of member institutions and schools providing training courses, diplomas and vocational training in a variety of digital professions.

About this initiative

The association works actively on a range of activities that aim to promote scientific and tech training in key digital professions for young people and school children and enhancing overall digital culture throughout France's regions. It also fosters collaboration between training providers and employers in the French ICT sector and tracks the evolution and main trends in digital professions in France. Essentially, Talents du Numérique is dedicated to building long-term relationships, capitalising on improving collaboration between institutional actors and professional organisations.

Talents du Numérique focuses on most key areas in emerging technologies, including: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), cybersecurity, blockchain, robotics, HPC (high performance computing), cloud computing, as well as more general software and web development skills. The organisation's name prior to 2018 was Pasc@line Association - yet the aim remained the same. On the website of the initiative, interested participants can find an entire repository of success stories and testimonials at the intersection of digital skills, technology, and employment.

Why is this a good practice?

Talents du Numérique has achieved considerable results since its launch: with 60,000 recruitments in 2018, more than 90% of students managed to secure employment within one year of obtaining a diploma. Since September 2017, the association has co-piloted one of the working groups of the French Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition. The association is one of the founding members of the initiative Femmes@Numérique (launched in December 2017) whose aim is to promote, through concrete actions, the place of women in the sector.

Today, the initiative brings together a network of 70 higher education institutions, and more than 2,850 companies in the digital sector, grouped in 2 networks. In 2023 only, activities of the association reached over 18,000 young people. From 2 to 7 December 2024, the organisation hosted the 2nd edition of the Digital and Computer Science Week, an event where professionals in the ICT sector have a chance to meet like-minded colleagues and partners from throughout France's regions.

The main stakeholders behind the initiative are evidence for its sustainability. They comprise of both public and private actors including: the French Ministry of Education, Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, ONISEP, RIS, INRIA (the National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology), MIAGE, Femmes numérique, IESF (International Esports Federation), Fondation Cgénial, EdTech, CPU (Conference of University Presidents), CGE, CDEFI, Digital-Drome-Ardèche, Campus Channel, and Opco Atlas
