Advanced Deep Learning: Automated robotic inspection: from viewpoint optimization to AI-driven inspection

Event location
Graaf Karel de Goedelaan 18, 8500 Kortrijk, Belgium

In the course, participants will be tasked to perform a robotic inspection of a 3D printed dragon. To this end, we will create a robotic inspection path based on the CAD-file of the object and our in-house viewpoint optimization tool. The participants will then upload the program to the robot and perform the inspection. The obtained images will then be used to train an 'AI' feature-detection algorithm. To this end, the participants will annotate the images and perform the Ai-training. To conclude the session, the participants can implement their model on the robot software and check out its performance in a live setting. Note that participants are allowed to bring their own object for inspection, as long as they send us a CAD-file of it, a week in advance.

About Reboot Skills

The course is developed under the framework of the EU-funded REBOOT SKILLS project, an initiative designed to enhance the digital expertise of professionals in the European manufacturing sector, addressing the digital skills gap exposed by rapid digitization and the COVID-19 pandemic. Supported by the Digital Europe program, it collaborates with academia, research, and industry to offer accessible training in four key areas: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Robotics, and Cybersecurity
