Educa(u)tion: Combatting Disinformation through Education

The Czech Liaison Office for Education and Research in Brussels (CZELO) and the Representation of the South Moravian Region to the EU in Brussels (KJMK) are co-organising an EduCafé focused on fighting disinformation through education. This event is not just aimed at education experts but also members of the general public interested in this topic. The EduCafé will be hosted in a debate format with English as the language for the debate.

The panelists taking part in this debate will approach the topic in the context of higher education and the preparation of teachers, including media literacy, as well as learning activities for students and youth. Following on from the debate, participants will have the opportunity to try and escape disinformation on their own by taking part in the Fakescape game.

Speakers for this event include:

  • Josef Šlerka, Head of New Media Studies at Charles University
  • Kamil Kopecký, Associate Professor at the Department of Czech Language at  Palacký University Olomouc and Head of the Centre for the Prevention of Risky Virtual Communication (PRVOK)
  • Lucie Čejková, journalist, Fakescape lecturer, a researcher at Masaryk University
