The Council of Europe is launching the European Year of Digital Citizenship Education 2025 to support education that helps people use digital technologies responsibly and effectively. This initiative aims to address challenges like disinformation, cyberbullying, online hate speech, and the misuse of personal data—issues that have grown with the COVID-19 pandemic and new technologies like ChatGPT.

The European Year 2025 will bring together governments, businesses, and organizations to work on shared goals, exchange ideas, and create a clear plan for the future of digital citizenship education. It focuses on helping people of all ages handle digital challenges and make the most of technology.
