Robotics for All – G-code for Robots

Event location
Graaf Karel De Goedelaan 16-18, 8500 Kortrijk, Belgium

In general, robot movements are programmed using waypoints and circular movements from the teach pendant. This approach is fine for common cobot applications, such as machine tending, palletizing, or general pick-and-place. However, it doesn’t work as well for process applications where robots need to follow complex paths. Imagine you need to program a robot to dispense liquid gasket on top of a car engine block. How long would it take to teach all the waypoints the robot needs to follow the contours of the engine? Maybe a few hours, or even a day or two?

G-code offers the solution! G-code, a standard language used in CNC machines, helps define the movements of these machining tools. Introduce G-code toolpaths to control your cobots in a similar way. The result is a more streamlined and efficient programming process

Practical information

9-12h Hands-on introduction to cobots

12-13h Lunch

Prior knowledge required: participants have a basic experience with cobots OR have already followed the training "Hands-on introduction to cobots"

About Reboot Skills

The course is developed under the framework of the EU-funded REBOOT SKILLS project, an initiative designed to enhance the digital expertise of professionals in the European manufacturing sector, addressing the digital skills gap exposed by rapid digitization and the COVID-19 pandemic. Supported by the Digital Europe program, it collaborates with academia, research, and industry to offer accessible training in four key areas: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, Robotics, and Cybersecurity.
