Skills in the digital world: a path towards inclusive transformation
The European Internet Forum (EIF) are hosting a virtual debate on ‘Skills in the digital world: a path towards inclusive transformation’ on 27 April 2022, 10:00 - 11:30 CET. Focusing on the progress that has been made since the Pact for Skills and other initiatives proposed by the European Commission over the past year, the EIF will analyse and discuss the role of the skills drive in supporting people of all ages and backgrounds to learn new competencies. This process has accelerated over the past two years with the coronavirus pandemic and has also exacerbated existing gaps such as gender disparities and inequalities in the access to digital infrastructure in certain communities.
Digital skills are a key priority on the Path to the Digital Decade, which has a target of 20 million employed ICT specialists in the EU by 2030, and for there to be a balance between women and men. This event’s discussion will also explore the role of skills in opening access to opportunities in the labour market as well as the need to ensure equal access to up-skilling, re-skilling, and digital competences.
