SUSTAINABILITY OPEN DAY - Together 4 STEM Virtual Innovation Camp

On Thursday October 12, 2023, the European Business Network for Corporate Sustainability and Responsibility (CSR Europe)’s Together 4 STEM Platform is organizing its first Virtual Innovation Camp. The Together 4 STEM platforms joins Huawei, Toyota Motor Europe , and Unipol Group. This year, the Camp will be co-organised with Newton International.

The Camp will gather an group of innovative students from across Europe to meet and collaborate on creative solutions to climate-change related challenges in the industry. The event is also an opportunity for companies or other stakeholders interested in supporting young people from different European countries acquire Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) skills and inspire them to pursue this career on the job market.

This online event is taking place within the context of the European Year of Skills – where the development of STEM skills amongst young people on the job market are proving crucial to tackling climate challenges and building a sustainable world.

Outcomes

The event’s key outcomes are expected to be: 

  • Welcoming companies to engage in Together4STEM activities
  • Encouraging students’ engagement on climate challenges and fostering connections between like-minded peers 
  • Exchanging ideas and building multi-stakeholder discussions 
  • Raising awareness of how companies can take an active role in promoting STEM and courses on climate issues in school
  • Inviting policy-makers, academics, and other key industry players to support the development of the Climate Education Toolkit

  • 14:20: Introduction – Design Solutions for Climate Change Workshop (Caroline Cormier, Newton International)
  • 14:30: Student Activity (Moderated by Caroline Cormier, Newton International)
  • 15:10: Interactive Jury Panel (Moderated by Barbara Prendota, CSR Europe) 
  • 15:40: European Commission Speech “Youth at the forefront of European Year of Skills” (European Commission)
  • 15:50: Conclusions (CSR Europe)
