HCAIM - Ethics Fundamentals

The HCAIM (Human-Centered AI Master) program includes a comprehensive module on Ethics Fundamentals as part of Modelling (Module A), focusing on the initial phase of the MLOps lifecycle. This phase emphasizes foundational activities such as data extraction, analysis, preparation, model training, and manual validation.
The Ethical Focus lesson plan on Ethics Fundamentals combines lectures and interactive sessions. It begins with an introduction to Human-Centered AI, providing a foundational understanding of the ethical implications in AI technologies. Ethical frameworks are explored through interactive sessions on Utilitarianism, Virtue Ethics, Duty Ethics, and the Theory of Justice, encouraging critical reflection and discussion.
Advanced Ethics delves into Social Contract Theories, examining their relevance and application in ethical decision-making within AI contexts. Applied Ethics focuses on Value-Sensitive Design, emphasizing the importance of ethical considerations in the design process. Additional lectures cover Privacy concerns, the Ethics of Decision Support Systems, and Decision Making and Cognitive Biases in AI applications.
Each topic includes interactive sessions to deepen understanding and application of ethical principles in practical scenarios. This module equips students with the necessary ethical frameworks and critical thinking skills to navigate complex ethical challenges in AI development responsibly.
