Becoming a Cybersecurity Consultant

The purpose of the course and certification scheme 'Becoming a Cybersecurity Consultant' by CONCORDIA (Cyber Security Competence for Research and Innovation is to introduce learners to the skills they need for professional development in this area. Participants can take the Concordia certification exam in order to certify their skills and embark on a career in cybersecurity. This course is for anyone, interested in the field, and targets mid-management employees as well as business executives from all around Europe. 

The programme is organised in a blended format and consists of two parts: an online course and face-to-face webinar. Course material is structured around 3 main learning objectives, divided by themes. These include: 

  • Threats: to address the updates on the existing and emerging cybersecurity threats and offer understanding of the latest trends and risks online. 
  • Technology: to gain knowledge about specific technological threats, and learn how to anticipate and prevent them.
  • Economics: to grasp the basics of the economics behind the cybersecurity activities and measures of an organisation or company, and to learn about risk management and information security to secure corporate reputation and retain clients. 

The course successfully charts a path towards a career as a Cybersecurity Consultant - an emerging role, increasingly sought by a variety of employers. It is developed on the basis of research findings and tailored to the skills and knowledge required in this field. Upon successful completion and passing of the final exam, learners acquire a certificate to stand as proof for the specific skills and knowledge developed as a result of the training. The online part of the course is designed to cover theoretical concepts a Cybersecurity Consultant (low-to-medium level) should know. It is structured in 4 modules (Cybersecurity Principles; Offensive Methods, Defensive Methods; Risk Management) and can be completed in 3 to 4 weeks with an average study time of 2-3 hours on a weekly basis.

The course is free of charge and its next intake will start in October 2021.
