In today’s digital world, where technology permeates all aspects of our lives, cybersecurity is no longer just a priority but an absolute necessity. Modern cyberattacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and harder to detect, with hackers continuously developing new techniques to bypass security measures and steal valuable data. Therefore, understanding the fundamentals of cybersecurity is crucial for anyone who uses digital technology, whether at work and in their personal life.

The aim of the CYRUS project, which this course is part of, is funded under the Digital Europe Programme of the European Union, is to support companies and SMEs in the transport and manufacturing sector to develop future-proof skills in the realm of cybersecurity. 

About this course

The course is designed for individuals in roles that involve access to company networks, data and devices (including those working in administration, security, management and even production), who possess a beginner level of IT knowledge. It is particularly relevant for professionals representing the following sectors:

  • The railway sector – including operators and professionals working in areas such as railway maintenance and traffic control
  • The manufacturing sector – focusing on cybersecurity challenges specific to manufacturing and industrial environments
  • Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – providing best practices for cybersecurity in business operations

Course topics 

  • Understanding basic cybersecurity concepts,
  • Practicing password hygiene to enhance account security.
  • Recognising ransomware and phishing attacks,
  • Identifying social engineering tactics and mitigating their impact,
  • Detecting suspicious emails.

Learning outcomes

Upon completing this training, participants will be able to:

  • Recognise and respond to cyber threats,
  • Identify suspicious hardware during routinary checks,
  • Apply safe browsing practices and maintain strong password hygiene.
