MSc Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT Advanced Digital Technologies at the University of Piraeus
Since 2018, the University of Piraeus' Department of Informatics has been offering a Master’s Programme (MSc) in Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT and Advanced Digital Technologies.
Aim of the programme
This programme is designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the new multidimensional technological environment. With a focus on digital culture and smart, sustainable, and green cities, students will learn about the latest trends and technologies shaping the world. They will also gain practical experience working with cutting-edge tools and technologies used in the industry and the market.
The programme stands out by targeting graduates from different disciplines and field, offering them the opportunity to acquire/enhance their digital skills even if the bachelors' degree is not related to ICT.
About the programme
The MSc in Digital Culture, Smart Cities, IoT Advanced Digital Technologies:
- Lasts 3 academic semesters: 2 semesters are dedicated to attending postgraduate courses and 1 semester is dedicated to completing the postgraduate dissertation
- Requires a bachelor's degree from Greek universities or equivalent foreign institutions
- The tuition fees amount to €1,500 per semester
- Upon successful completion of the programme, a Master's Degree with 90 ECTS is awarded
The programme offers 3 specialisations/tracks::
“Digital Culture” track
- This specialisation aims to educate and train professionals from various disciplines in theoretical, scientific, and technological fields to promote the emergence, protection, promotion, and management of cultural assets with the contribution of advanced digital technologies. It equips students with the necessary knowledge of the latest global trends in the emerging interdisciplinary field of digital culture and ensures the development and shaping of a new digital strategy in culture
"Smart Cities and Advanced Digital Technologies" track
- This specialisation aims to educate and train scientists from different fields to work in the new digital urban landscape. It also aims to design and support new services in the ever-changing "Smart Cities" connected to the modern ecosystem, infrastructure, operations, and services. These services include smart transportation, communications, smart homes, e-governance, smart grids, smart cultural heritage, smart health, smart agriculture, smart digital infrastructure, and smart energy management.
"Internet of Things (IoT) and Advanced Digital Technologies" track
- This specialisation aims to educate and train scientists from various fields, but mainly from the domains of natural and technological sciences. It provides the necessary knowledge for the design, management, and support of new services on IoT platforms, the management of complex projects, equips students with the skills for designing and developing appropriate and innovative systems and services, analyzing big data, and provides the technical expertise in designing interdependent IoT systems connected to the functions of the digital city, smart homes, transportation, construction, energy, smart grids, smart health, smart agriculture, smart security, service provision, communications, smart digital infrastructure, education, smart security, development of governance systems, data security, protection of privacy and integrity of personal data, addressing cyber intrusions, protecting devices from attacks, and ensuring interoperability of systems and devices.
