Sustainable AI in Business - Agoria online course

'Sustainable AI in Business' is a self-paced online course by Agoria - the Belgian technology industry federation. The course comes after the success of the organisation's previous course 'AI in Business' - an interactive online roadmap to artificial intelligence for those with no experience in the technology. ‘Sustainable AI in Business’ is an initiative by Agoria, developed for and by companies with support from the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Flemish Agency for Innovation and Enterprise (Vlaio).

Topics of focus

'Sustainable AI in Business' addresses the societal impact of artificial intelligence, offering a general overview of the various organisational, legal and ethical aspects that need to be taken into account when implementing AI within a business context. What is more, the course delves into key aspects to sustainability, such as ethics, safety - and examines the necessary boxes an AI application needs to 'tick' to remain in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The course is a good introduction to middle management and management-level employees, looking to increase the positive impact their company has on society by using technology.

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will find out why the increased use of artificial intelligence in the business world evokes both curiosity, and enthusiasm, but also uncertainty. They will be able to provide examples of the impact AI has had on people's job content, tasks, and work organisation. With an improved understanding of the legal and societal elements surrounding AI, they will be able to list legislation in the field and provide examples of AI applications that are sustainable and forward-looking.
