Politecnico di Torino
Founded in 1859 as a School for Engineers, Politecnico di Torino is one of Italy’s oldest and most prestigious technical universities. Renamed Regio Politecnico di Torino in 1906, it has spent over 160 years educating engineers, architects, designers, and urban planners with a strong commitment to academic excellence, integrity, and innovation.
Today, the university is recognized among Europe’s leading technical institutions, hosting around 38,700 students and over 1,000 academic staff. In response to global challenges such as climate change, technological transformation, and shifting labour markets, Politecnico di Torino is evolving into an open and inclusive “platform” university. It actively collaborates with industry and society, promotes lifelong learning, and aims to drive sustainable development through innovation and impactful education.
