SELFIE

SELFIE stands for 'Self-reflection on Effective Learning by Fostering the use of Innovative Educational technologies' and offers a free, customisable digital tool to foster an increased use and awareness of digital technologies in teaching, learning and assessment. SELFIE is an initiative by the European Commission, funded through the Erasmus+ programme. The tool's methodology is based on the European Commission framework on promoting digital-age learning in educational organisations. 

SELFIE is available in all 24 EU languages and 8 international ones, including Russian, Turkish and Serbian. It can be used by any school, including those with limited capabilities and resources in terms of infrastructure, equipment and use of technology. Developed by a team of experts from schools, education ministries and research institutes across Europe, SELFIE is supported by partner institutions, such as the European Training Foundation, the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) and UNESCO's Institute for Information Technologies in Education. 

The tool provides an easy way for schools to gather the opinions and views of teachers, students and wider school administration on the application of digital technologies in teaching and learning within their own context. Using short statements and questions, the survey records respondents answers on a scale of 1 to 5 to generate a 'snapshot' SELFIE report - a tailor-made and interactive report with in-depth data and highlights of particular organisational weaknesses and strengths. 

Through this approach, SELFIE involves the whole school community – school leaders, teachers and students – in a 360-degree process covering many areas of school practice.
