Background

In line with the European Disability Strategy 2010-2020, one of the underlined priority areas is employment – raise significantly the share of persons with disabilities working in the open labour market. They represent one-sixth of the EU's overall working-age population, but their employment rate is comparatively low– and the programmes across Europe easing the process of entering into the job market through apprenticeships, for instance are extremely rare.

Our pledge

The pledge aspires to launch and conduct an European research on the inclusion of disadvantaged (social, economical and phisical) people in various working contexts. Digital tools (accompanied by the appropriate knowledge) allow today, more than in the past, weak subjects to enter fully into the labor market, not only necessarily national. However, although the European Commission has worked and is working hard to remove the barriers for this to become a reality, there are still many obstacles to face. European research will be carried out to investigate what is the state of art on the inclusion of disadvantaged people in the labor market. The aim is to produce a framework of actions to be proposed to national and European institutions as well as to promote a campaign to raise awareness of the problem.
