The e-CF Explorer is an initiative of IT Professionalism Europe (ITPE) with the aim to increase visibility and accessibility of the European e-Competence Framework (e-CF). The e-Competence Framework provides a reference of 41 competences as applied at the ICT (Information and Communication Technology) workplace, using a common language for competences, skills, knowledge and proficiency levels that can be understood across Europe.

This free online self-assessment tool allows visitors to easily explore and assess their digital competences and the 30 ICT Professional Role Profiles identified by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). In particular, these roles represent the most typical roles performed by any ICT professionals in any association or organisation. All users can create a profile, choose a specific role (among every ICT business and macro processes such as design, development, deployment, production, specific management etc.), select the pre-defined e-Competence levels and generate their profile, which shows proficiency levels that apply to each competence. After using the tool, it is possible to save and download the results.

The initiative is also part of ITPE's pledge to the Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition, which is to promote to different users across the EU the standard outlined by the European e-Competence Framework, and to increase its visibility and accessibility by raising awareness and facilitating the understanding.
