The European Security and Defence College (ESDC) operates under the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) framework, delivering EU-level training for the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). It aims to foster a shared understanding of CSDP among civilian and military personnel, emphasizing the identification and sharing of best practices. Notably, the ESDC addresses the digital landscape, including cybersecurity, acknowledging the importance of these skills in navigating contemporary security challenges. The ESDC serves as a vital hub for promoting collaboration, sharing insights, and enhancing the capabilities of personnel engaged in European security and defence. The European Security and Defence College (ESDC) main objectives are as follows:

Enhance European security culture and promote TEU Article 21(1) principles within and outside the Union.

Provide proficient personnel for CSDP and CFSP to Union instances, Member States, and CSDP Missions.

Support civilian crisis management, sustainable development, and cyber security through training, education, and international partnerships.

The European Security and Defence College (ESDC) and its mission for a safer cyber-future

One of the main objectives of the ESDC is to provide Member States and Union administrations with knowledgeable personnel familiar with Union policies, institutions, procedures and best practices in the field of cyber security and defence. To do so the College is offering a diverse variety of learning materials:

EAB.Cyber: a platform to address cyber security and defence training among civilian and military personnel and include CSDP requirements in all respective training. The platform will deal with all domains of cybersecurity, such as Cyber Crime, Network Information Security, Cyber Defence and External Relations.

Training material: ESDC offers open e-learning material and training material provided by ENTRi, and provides specialized training materials, offering comprehensive resources for cybersecurity education. These materials cover threat detection, risk assessment, and collaborative response strategies, empowering personnel to effectively address evolving digital challenges and enhance the EU's cybersecurity resilience.

Cybersecurity-focused curricula: ESDC prioritizes cybersecurity with specialized curricula, imparting essential skills for threat detection, risk assessment, and collaborative responses. This prepares personnel to navigate and counteract evolving digital threats, fortifying the EU's overall cybersecurity resilience.
