University of Nicosia Master's in Blockchain and Digital Currency

The University of Nicosia (UNIC) has been offering an MSc in Blockchain and Digital currency in response to demand for academic and professional education and certification in blockchain. First launched as a digital masters' in 2014, the programme is now available on campus since 2021. This programme is hosted by the Department of Digital Innovation at UNIC. It aims to equip its students with knowledge covering finance, management, computer science and information science to allow students to engage with blockchain systems and cryptocurrencies in a holistic manner. 

Study programme

The programme is delivered in three semesters (one calendar year) conferring students with 90 ECTS credits and is taught in English. 

Students will take 30 ECTS credits' worth of courses each semester. The first two semesters include three courses each. In the 3rd semester, the required electives are 30 ECTS: either (a) three elective courses, (b) Thesis or (c) Placement/Internship.

Requirements

Applications from prospective students need to include the following elements:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Work experience, if any
  • English proficiency - students who have undertaken a first degree in English do not have to prove proficiency. Other students need to present proof of proficiency with a TOEFL score of 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based, or GCSE "O" level with "C", or IELTS with a score of 6.0 or score placement at the ENGL-100 level of the University of Nicosia Placement Test
